We are thrilled to be launching two disability studies books on Oct 12th in Toronto:
Dramatizing Blindness: Disability Studies as Critical Creative Narrative and DisAppearing: Encounters in Disability Studies
The in-person/online event will take place on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 from 6-10 pm at the Tranzac Club () in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood.

Doors open at 6 pm EST. The program, including live streaming of the launch, begins at 7 pm EST. We have a dynamic evening planned that includes:
- Opening remarks from author and scholar, Prof. Rod Michalko on Dramatizing Blindness: Disability Studies as Critical Creative Narrative and its influence on the development of the field of Blind Studies.
- Dramatizing Blindness: Disability Studies as Critical Creative Narrative from author, Devon Healey
- Selected readings and remarks from the editors and authors in the DisAppearing: Encounters in Disability Studies collection.
- Cash bar and light refreshments, including a Revealing the Intrigue cookies
- Both books will be sold at a discounted rate, Credit, Cash, and discount codes are also available for those who wish to purchase the books online or get their library to do so.
Tranzac is an inclusive space with an accessible entrance, main hall, and washrooms which are also gender inclusive. Captioning, visual description, and ASL interpretation will be provided.
This double book launch is an inclusive, and celebratory event for all students, staff, faculty, and community members to come together to reveal the intrigue of disability.
