Special Workshop: Learning Strategy Support for Master’s Students
A new semester provides an opportunity for self-reflection, course correction, and developing manageable systems. This will be an interactive workshop to reflect upon your learning strengths, acknowledge challenges, and discover opportunities to transform insights into action.We will discuss the following:
- Why motivation is not always a helpful way to think about starting up tasks
- The connections between procrastination and perfectionism
- Alternatives to time blocking (i.e., flexible planning systems)
- The key differences between spontaneous and strategic readers
- Reducing stress-motivated productivity by supporting your future self
Yaseen Ali (he/him) is a Learning Strategist at the Centre for Learning Strategy Support and is a Ph.D. candidate in the Language and Literacies Education program at OISE. He regularly works with graduate students in both course-based and research-intensive degree programs on setting achievable goals and designing sustainable workflows.
What to expect:
- This session is on Zoom.

- The workshop will be in English.
- Slides are available upon request. Note: current research will be shared so some sections will be removed when shared.
- The workshop is mostly presentation with opportunities for discussion and asking questions.
